Dr. Kelly is set to lead the Wesley Chapel Spine Center and extend his expertise to the Tampa office, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a commitment to comprehensive and compassionate patient care.

Internship in General Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine Jacksonville

Originally hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Kelly’s academic journey has been marked by excellence. He graduated cum laude with a BA in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics from Assumption College, where he also excelled in baseball and swimming. Dr. Kelly continued his education at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) in Blacksburg, VA, and completed an Internship in General Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine Jacksonville.

Accolades and Achievements in Orthopedic Surgery Residency

During his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami, FL, Dr. Kelly garnered recognition for his exceptional abilities. He was nominated for the prestigious 2021 David C. Leach Award by ACGME, selected as Chief Resident for the 2019-2020 academic year, and named a Top 10 Finalist for the 2019 Florida Resident of the Year Award.

Expertise in Spinal Deformity and Fusionless Techniques

Dr. Kelly pursued specialized training in Pediatric Spinal Deformity at The University of British Columbia’s BC Children’s Hospital, where he honed his skills in complex spinal deformity and Anterior Vertebral Body Tethering (AVBT). His journey continued at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, where he completed a fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Orthopedic Spine and Neurosurgery, gaining expertise in degenerative disorders, tumors, and trauma.

Dr. Kelly is at the forefront of innovative spinal surgery techniques, including navigation-guided and robotic-assisted pedicle screw placement. These technologies enhance precision, accuracy, and predictability in surgical procedures. Beyond surgical intervention, Dr. Kelly offers a range of nonsurgical treatments such as physical therapy and spinal injections, reflecting his commitment to holistic patient care.
